A Lagos based public affairs consultant and manager, Sir Ikechukwu Onyemekara has enjoined christian faithful to always seek God’s face and divine counsel before embarking on any battle.
He opined that anything in the contrary my spell doom for careless children of God.
Onyemekara spoke in a Bible study session at the recently concluded 2026 chapter meeting of Council of Knights Ikeduru Anglican Diocese held in St Andrew’s parish Akabo.

He remarked that children of God ought to be cautious and circumspect in chosing their battles. According to him, not every battle is worth taking on.
Sir Ikechukwu Onyemekara who chaired the annual event cited the case of King David in the book of 1st Samuel chapter 30, wherein a king had to literally cry until had no strength to cry. He noted that rather than give up, David encouraged himself in the Lord and enquired from Him if he could pursue, overtake and recover all from the invading Amalekites, a request according to the bible, God granted and victory ultimately recorded in favour of David and his men.
Sir Onyemekara who attended the three day event with his wife, Lady Onyemekara recalled a near sad experience in his life that almost pitched him against his in-law but when he sought God’s guidance and got the best counsel, a precarious situation that may have precipitated severe hostility and enemity in both families was roundly averted and unity restored.

“As christians, we should be chosing our battles. Not every battle deserves our energy and resources. We simply ought to seek God’s face and guidance like David did in the bible, before confronting some unfavorable situations so that we don’t loose out at the end of the day”, Onyemekara concluded.
