Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of NIGERIAN NEWSGUIDE newspaper Sir Chidi Emeagi yesterday made it abundantly clear that the 2027 Imo gubernatorial election which will be held around November next year would certainly produce someone from Owerri zone as governor of Imo State.

According to him, despite the odds, an Imo East governorship candidate will emerge a governor as no power, conspiracies, individual or groups would stop it.
The NIGERIAN NEWSGUIDE Publisher stated this, when the newly elected Exco of Owerri Zone Media Practitioners Association (OZOMPA) led by its chairman Comrade Chinedu Opara paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Owerri, the Imo state capital.

Sir Chidi Emeagi who went down memory lane, debunked the insinuations and wrong impressions suggesting that Owerri people stopped Gov Ikedi Ohakim’s second term in 2011. According to the media guru, that particular impression is a ruse and a political deceit orchestrated by those whose imaginations and consciences are locked up in hell by Mr Lucifer himself.
“Let me say this at this auspicious visit, Owerri zone factually on openly supported Orlu zone in 1999 to produce Imo governor in the person of Chief Achike Udenwa. A great son of Mbaitoli Chief Humphrey Anumudu won the PDP guber ticket at their primaries held at Rosy Arts theatre Ikenegbu Owerri. Anumudu was later prevailed upon by his Owerri kinsmen to give his ticket to Udenwa who came 4th in the primary election so that Orlu zone which seemed to be lagging behind in the scheme of things then, would be better positioned.
“Till today, Orlu zone is yet to reciprocate that singular political gesture from Ndi Owerri. In 2007, Gov Udenwa refused to support the emergence of Owerri man as his successor.

“That miscalculation was actually what brought Sir Ikedi Ohakim whose emergence was strictly backed up by Prof Maurice Iwu, then INEC chairman and a few other leaders.
Note that Chief Martin Agbaso of APGA then, had already won Imo governorship election earlier held on April 14, 2007. Prof Iwu and co, cancelled that election and rescheduled another for April 28 which Agbaso ignorantly participated in. If Agbaso didn’t participate in that April 28 rescheduled election, he would have been declared winner by the courts based on the results of April 14.
“Ohakim ruled Imo state for four years, performed excellently well and sought a reelection but the Catholic church, Fr Mbaka and the powers that be in Abuja stopped his reelection.
I can authoritatively tell you that Ohakim won the first election conducted early April but INEC that was influenced by Abuja power brokers coupled with the effects of Mbaka and the Catholic church blackmail, ordered a supplementary election in Ngor-Okpala, Mbaitoli and parts of Oguta thus rigging Ohakim out and declaring Owelle Rochas Okorocha winner.
“So with the above scenario, how can a sane person insinuate that Owerri people stopped Ohakim’s reelection?
Today, Ndi Owerri are treated like strangers in their own state and I think it’s time we put a stop to that.
“I urge you leaders and members of Owerri Zone Media Practitioners Association (OZOMPA) to champion this advocacy and get more people buy into it.
God and men will definitely fight and work for the emergence of Imo State governor of Owerri zone extraction come 2027.
You have my support, blessing and solidarity now, and always”, Emeagi concluded.
The chairman of OZOMPA Comrade Chinedu Opara had earlier told Sir Chidi Emeagi that they were in his to introduce the new Exco to him, intimate him of the upcoming events, and to also inform him of their resolve to push for the eventual emergence of Owerri zone candidate as Imo governor in 2027/2028.
Opara was accompanied by his Deputy, Mr Nnamdi Iheagwaram, Secretary, Mr Reuben Nwankwo and Publicity Secretary Deacon Daniel Opara (Danjay).
