All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Imo state chapter on Tuesday June 9, 2026 elected new officers to handle the affairs of the association in the coming years.

Secretary of AFAN Imo state 2026 electoral committee Mrs Chinedum Ukpabi who coordinated the exercise at AFAN’s state secretariat along Okigwe road Owerri said those who emerged were well scrutinized and their documents assessed before their names were finally shortlisted for the contest.

Mrs Ukpabi remarked that only those who purchased their forms, filled them out and submitted same within the stipulated time frame were cleared according to the electoral guidelines given to them.

At the end of the exercise, a total number of 16 aspirants without rivals who equally satisfied all the electoral guidelines were elected and returned unopposed by the electoral committee.

The newly elected officers are:
Amb. Mrs Ijeoma Nwachukwu-Chairman,
Engr Lordis Mbamara-Deputy chairman,
Sir Chidi Emeagi-Secretary,
Chief Willimbo Okechukwu-Org Sec,
Mr Goddy Obiyo-Owerri zonal chairman and Engr Victor Nwadimma-Youth Leader.

Others are Chief Ezeasoibe Chukwuemeka-Asst Fin Sec, Lolo Esther Onyeji-Treasurer, Mrs Adiaha Cynthia-Provost, Elder Amb Cyril Ali-Auditor, Chief Mrs Ezinne Joy Ejim-Orlu zone provost and Mrs Ifeoma Ibeneme-Woman Leader.

The rest are: Nze Augustine Maduagwu-Asst Sec, Mrs Onyinyechi Kingsley-Ike-Fin Sec, Dr Sam Jato Odumaya-Vice chairman Orlu zone and Mr Ernest Ejiogu-Provost Owerri zone.

Secretary of the electoral committee Mrs Chinedum Ukpabi said existing vacant offices will be filled via bye election.

Speaking on behalf of other elected officers, the newly elected chairman, Mrs Ijeoma Nwachukwu promised to lead AFAN Imo state to the promised land.
She assured that under her watch, all farm inputs, supports, fundings and other accruals from the Federal, state governments including those from donor agencies meant for farmers in Imo state must get to them without scheming any farmer out.

Mrs Ijeoma Nwachukwu called on all famers in the state to close ranks noting that Imo would be a state to reckon with in Nigeria in food production and other agricultural activities under her leadership.

The new Exco of AFAN in Imo state will be officially inaugurated at a latter date.
The out going chairman of AFAN Dr Ayo Enwerem was present during the exercise.
