The hallowed halls of the Imo State House of Assembly, on Monday 18th May 2026, literally wore a festive mood as management and staff gathered to celebrate the birthday anniversary of the Clerk and Legislative Head, Barr Mrs Chinelo Adaora Emeghara.

What began as a routine workday transformed into a living tribute to the leadership, service, and the quiet strength that keep the machinery of democracy running. The air was charged with warmth, laughter, and a shared sense of pride in the woman at the helm of the Assembly’s administration.

The celebration opened with a solemn prayer session at the Imo State House of Assembly Chapel. Voices rose in unison, offering thanksgiving for life, wisdom, and the gift of leadership. It set the tone for the day: gratitude before festivity, reflection before revelry. In that sacred space, colleagues paused to acknowledge not just a birthday, but years of dedication that have shaped the Assembly’s culture and standards.

Colour and rhythm soon followed as various music groups, invited by different departments, filled the grounds with song. The new recruits of the Assembly also stepped forward, their performances adding youthful energy and a promise of continuity to the occasion. Drums, choral harmonies, and contemporary melodies wove together, turning the Assembly complex into a stage of unity where tradition met the vibrancy of a new generation.

One by one, departments presented their gifts to the celebrant, each presentation carrying more than material value. Alongside each gift came prayers for longevity, goodwill messages, and heartfelt words of appreciation. Many spoke of her steady hand, her fairness, and the quality of leadership that has made the Assembly a place where staff feel seen and valued. It was clear this was not mere protocol, but genuine gratitude for a leader who leads with both competence and compassion.

The celebration spilled into a feast of food, drink, and fellowship. Tables laden with delicacies became meeting points where hierarchy gave way to camaraderie. Colleagues danced, exchanged jokes, and toasted to many more years of service under her guidance. The atmosphere was one of unfiltered joy—proof that when leadership is felt at the human level, loyalty follows naturally.

In Barr. Mrs Chinelo Adaora Emeghara, the Imo State House of Assembly Staff sees more than a Clerk; they see a custodian of order, a mentor, and a steady compass. The day ended not just as a birthday party, but as a reaffirmation of shared purpose and respect. May the pomp and pageantry of today echo in the years ahead, and may her tenure continue to inspire excellence across the legislative service.
