Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Prof Bond Ugochukwu Anyaehie has revealed that his institution is now one of the most sought-after universities in Nigeria.
Prof Anyaehie stated this at the formal inauguration of the university’s Advancement Management Board on April 10, 2026.
The event was marked by commendations, forward-looking statements, and renewed commitments to strengthening the university’s growth and global competitiveness.
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the steady progress recorded under his administration, disclosing that the university has successfully graduated over 600 students within a short period, noting that UNIZIK was increasingly gaining recognition as one of the most sought-after universities in Nigeria.

Reflecting on the Advancement board establishment, the Vice-Chancellor explained that constituting the Advancement Management Board was one of his earliest strategic decisions upon assuming office. He remarked that what began as a conceptual initiative has evolved into a structured and impactful body, driven by the collective support of staff and stakeholders.
Anyaehie emphasized the importance of deliberate planning, noting that strategic alignment remains key to institutional all round development.

Professor Anyaehie expressed strong confidence in the leadership of the newly inaugurated Advancement board Chairman, Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu, adding that the board is well-positioned to drive the university’s advancement agenda and achieve greater milestones.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Uzochukwu commended the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership and vision, describing his appointment as a call to service anchored on merit and proven capacity. He emphasized that sustainable institutional growth depends not only on structures but also on purposeful leadership and commitment to shared goals. He further noted that the future of the university will be shaped by deliberate decisions and a clear vision, stressing that great institutions are built through intentional efforts.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Flutterwave, Olugbenga Agboola, applauded the university’s strides and reaffirmed his support for its continued development. He described UNIZIK as a leading institution making notable impact across academic and developmental spheres.
In her remarks, the Registrar of the university, Dr. Chinenye Gloria Okeke, expressed appreciation to dignitaries in attendance and congratulated members of the newly inaugurated board. She reaffirmed UNIZIK’s standing as a leading institution in Africa and expressed optimism that the board will play a critical role in sustaining and advancing the university’s excellence.
The inauguration of the Advancement Management Board is said to to be a bold and strategic step in strengthening the university’s institutional framework, with stakeholders expressing confidence in its capacity to drive UNIZIK’s vision for global relevance and sustained growth.
