Chairman Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Orlu branch, Chief Obodozie J. O Okolie has cautioned against the endless vandalisation of street light installations in Imo state particularly along Owerri-Orlu road. He said such a criminal act is the height of unpatriotism akin to Boko Haram insurgency in North East, Nigeria.

Speaking with NIGERIAN NEWSGUIDE in a telephone conversation last weekend Sir O. J. O Okolie revealed that the said vandalization of street light installations along Owerri-Orlu road is particularly witnessed in Orodo communities in Mbaitoli Council Area.

He called on the Traditional rulers, President Generals of Town Unions of the affected communities to show evident commitment in protecting government property and other public basic amenities in their localities.

“Passing through Owerri-Orlu road every day leaves one obviously sad over what has suddenly and unfortunately become a reoccurring decimal in our state.

The vandalization of street light installations in Orodo community axis of the Owerri-Orlu high way is not just condemnable but a criminal act perpetrated by a criminal gang in the affected communities.

This was a road Governor Hope Uzodimma against all odds, tried to build for the good of all Imolites. He equally installed street lights for proper illumination at night but criminals elements in the affected communities who may be thinking that the street lights are threat to their nocturnal and heinous activities, have resorted to vandalizing them, carting some away and dumping others in nearby bushes. Orodo Traditional rulers and President Generals should do something to protect government installations and facilities. Enough of this sabotage! Gov Hope Uzodimma did well by constructing such a good quality high way for us. We owe him a duty to protect the street lights and other facilities therein”.
